Spring/Summer 2026
“Work Where?”
“Work Where?” is a collection I developed based on the current trend of people incorporating different pieces of work wear from carpenter jeans to Dickie’s jackets into their everyday style. I decided to put my own twist on this because while I appreciate the silhouettes and quality of fabric used to create these garments, I felt that the designs often left me wanting more. To satiate this feeling, I decided that I wanted to add more details to the garment. While some sort of graphic would be the most obvious answer, I felt that decision would take away from the characteristics that I enjoy about work wear such as the garment construction. Rather, I added two rows of contrasting topstitching that alternates between two colors. This was done because I believe contrast topstitching adds an element that is appealing to the eye while also highlighting the craftsmanship of the garment in a subtle way.
Playing on the phrase “Work Where?”, the marketing and advertising of this collection is going to be the complete opposite setting of where work wear was intended to be used. Rather than be in locations such as work sites or doing activities such as construction, the marketing will be focused on leisurely activities such as playing chess in the park or even washing your car on an off-day, activities I would personally wear the collection to do. I decided for this approach because it creates a juxtaposition between the garments and the environment since these aren’t typical locations work wear would be intended. However, with work wear becoming less of a uniform and more of an aesthetic, I think this approach best highlights the transition of this style into everyday wear.
Below are all of the files I have created in order to bring this collection to life. You will find everything from the technical flats to 3D models, with me constantly revising the file depending on the part of the production process I’m on.
Delivery Date: 6/2026
(Update): As of 1/8/26, I have made contact with an overseas manufacturer. After some conversation and revisions made to the design in accordance to the facilities production capabilities, an order has been placed for sample production of both colorways of the carpenter shorts. While production is slated to start soon, the estimated completion isn’t until mid-late March in observation of the Chinese New Year celebrations.
