Work Shirt
(Jan. 2026) This is a work shirt I designed for a collection that I am currently working on for my own brand. The design of the shirt is based on a mechanic shirt while having some more modern design choices such as a slight crop fit as well as the shoulders being slightly dropped as well. Aside from those choices, most of the other design elements such as the patches and the back logo hit were all inspired by actual mechanic shirt designs that I found as references to my design. I also included pinstripe topstitching on one variation so that it created more cohesion between the carpenter shorts that I was working on that are also a part of the collection. The other variation of the shirt has topstitching only around the seams to so that they are a more subtle detail while still emphasizing the construction of the garment itself.
During the making of this shirt, I got to use features in Clo3D that I hadn’t previously. One of these features was to add binding to a pattern piece to give the piece for my stiffness. This is equivalent to adding fusing to a pattern piece in real life and was very interesting to see how it worked in a simulated setting. I also got experience working with button plackets and got more experience with order of operations within a simulated setting. I also created my first 3D object that wasn’t a clothing piece in this project when I had to make the name patches.
Overall I am happy with how the work shirts came out. While the most up-to-date design was the 2nd or 3rd revision of the original design, it is the design I am most pleased with and the one I will be putting into production.
